Yeshimabeit “Yeshi” Milner is the Founder and CEO of Data for Black Lives, a movement of scientists and activists using data science to create measurable change in Black communities. A lifelong technologist and movement builder, Yeshi began organizing at age 17. She founded Data for Black Lives in 2017, as AI and big data were rapidly emerging as force multipliers of both innovation and inequality. Under her leadership, Data for Black Lives has redefined how data can serve justice — transforming policy, research, and culture on a global scale. Through groundbreaking initiatives, the organization has reclaimed data as a tool for protest, accountability, and collective power. Yeshi’s work has received wide recognition. She is an Echoing Green Fellow, an Ashoka Fellow, and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for her trailblazing leadership as a social entrepreneur. In 2020, she received a New York Times Good Tech Award for Data for Black Lives’ COVID-19 response, and was one of the inaugural recipients of the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award, honoring civic leaders under 40 reshaping public life.
