José Luis Roces

José Luis Roces graduated as an Industrial Engineer from Buenos Aires University in 1969, and has a postgraduate degree in Management Sciences from the Oxford Center for Management Sciences, Templeton College, Great Britain.

For over four decades, he performed his duties at several local as well as international industrial and services firms, fulfilling positions of Human Resources Director for Argentina within the Santander-Central Hispano Group; Director for Relations with Personnel, Industrial Engineering Manager, and Deputy Director to the Manufacturing Department, Tubes Division, within the Techint Group (Siderca, SIAT, Cometarsa) covering factory plants in Mexico and the USA, and branch offices in China, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Russia; and Managing Director of Masis S.A.

As a consultant for enterprise management, he worked on industrial and general organisation, productivity and quality improvement, and strategic management of human resources. He was also an advisor to the Interamerican Development Bank, and to local and international firms like AT&T, Arcor, Canteras Cerro Negro, Citibank, Esso, Red Megatone and Siemens.

He has been awarded the Premio Bienal del Consejo Profesional de Ingenieros Industriales (1992-1993) for his achievements on the productivity increase in Argentina, and has obtained a scholarship by the government of Belgium to take part in a management development project. Mr. Roces has been declared Illustrious Citizen of the city of Texas due to his contribution to professional education in Latin America.

José Luis Roces has published several papers and articles in specialized magazines, and is co- writer of “Argentina Productiva” (Ed. PRO, Buenos Aires, 1978) and “El Lider Vital” (Ed. Temas, Buenos Aires, 2006). He also lectures at conferences, seminars and courses organized both locally and abroad on subjects concerning productivity, education techniques, management and leadership. He is usually invited to participate as a jury board member of academic institutions and non-governmental organizations at the local and international level.
